Thanks to everyone who replied to my Paradise question.

I received about 10 different Xconfig's, all from people with the same
Paradise 1024 card.  My own Xconfig matched just fine.

It turned that one single person solved my problem:  I need to start X
from 80x24 text mode.  Otherwise, the screen blanks.  Now X is working
perfectly!

(If this isn't already documented somewhere, perhaps we should put it in 
 the README or INSTALL files for Xbase1.1?  It would save Paradise owners
 a lot of future trouble...)
