Well, what will happen if the Modem hangs up with a NO_CARRIER in the shell?

Does it get killed as it should or would the next calling user find an open
account? 


This has of course been solved long ago in other unix-Versions, but I have
no idea how? Any unix-wizard here?

It would be *very* good to have a getty that checks for the online-status,
that does only fork off a login if there was a proper CONNECT 38400...
whatever, and does start a receivefax if it said CONNECT FAX, or a
voice-handling system with CONNECT VOICE...

Has this been solved?
