Hi and kudos to all linuxers.
Some more questions ... ;)
1) I read FAQ, FAQ.serial, and RELNOTE.97 and could not
find out how do you create busmouse device (major,
minor). I understand it is probably created by .97 root
disk but do I have to download 1.2 M to learn how to do it ? ;)
2) I using MicrosoftBusmouse patch. Would above be what am I
suppose to do (ie: is /dev/mouse refering to busmouse
device?
3) To all X users. I've become one of them (finaly) - big
thanx to Rick Faith for his driver.
Now I've been playing with Xconfig and I thing I
undestand video.tutorial quite well. I can create any
setting and it works almost always. Problem is that my
monitor only sysncs at 31.5 35.2 and 35.5 kHz
(Magnavox-Philips 7CM321) and is interlaced. To get
better resolotions I have to use interlaccedness.
(spelling !) If I follow calculations to
create something around 1024x768 normally I get ~40Hz
refresh. Obvious from calculations I get screen flickers like
crazy. Now I need interlacdness. If I put 'interlace' in
flag field screen starts to flicker even more crazely!
So I thought (knowing nothing about interlacedness but
its dictionary meaning) I need to cut vertical timings by
half. Yeah, I got realy nice picture, but X thinks I only
have half the screen. It starts panning if I move my
cursor below half screen. Now picture is really nice seems
to be right resol'n and good refresh rate. If I drag a
window down its bottom part starts to disappar below 'bout two thirds
of the screen util my mouse hits half the screen when the
panning kicks in.
Please help! and thanx again for systems and patience!
(Year ago when I first saw X at school I would never
think I get it at home - and unix. Times change. Fast!)
