The new MCC interim version, now available, contains GCC 2.2.2d (the
latest released version) and complete source (already patched!) for
Linux 0.97 patch level 2.  It can be found at ftp.mcc.ac.uk
in /pub/linux/mcc-interim/0.97p2.
