With networking, it could even be useful.
Think of firing off:

        mkfifo /tmp/WoW
        xterm -l -lf /tmp/WoW -e bash (or whatever)
        xterm -e cat /tmp/WoW -display your.friends.machine:0

and then starting to demonstrate how good you are at rogue (or whatever)....
