What I got from tsx-11 was 0.97.  I suppose I got confused because I
do have the patch level 1 *boot disk*.

... which probably explains why it won't work correctly.  The boot
itself does not identify fd1 - it only reports fd0 when it shows the
devices before asking to insert the root disk.  fd1H1440 will work,
but fd1 does not point to the b: drive, apparently.

So it apparently works then.  I was just curious as to the "broken
pipe" which I didn't expect.
