Last night I happily grabbed Patch 2 for the 0.97 kernel. After messing with
the patch for a while (finally resorting to re-untarring the kernel source and
re-applying both patch 1 and patch 2 and editing fs/locks.c due to the fact
that the patch seemed to add the new lines but not delete the old ones) I
was able to get the kernel to recompile with a minimum of hassle. My
excitement died upon bootup, however, as I was greeted with:
magic match failed
magic match failed
no bmap support
at which point the system hung. I rebooted from floppy and am now running
.97.1-5 again. Anyone have an idea as to what's wrong here?
Ps: Why, during make and make dep with the kernel source, do I keep getting
the pseudo-error
gcc: /usr/src/linux/include: linker input file unused since linking not done
This doesn't seem to have any effect on compilation. I'm using GCCv2.2.2d.
