Since I don't like (trust) things that give an error message and then
keep working, I added a couple of lines in the kernel where fs
checking is done to give the message:
     MINIX magic failed
or
     MINIX magic match
when mounting a fs.
Also gives:
     EXT magic ...
when trying to mount ext fs.
No check for ms-dog.

Bottom line: Linux ext-fs works.  If the error message doesn't bother you--
ignore it.
