Sorry for following up my own post :-) but I've just noticed some stuff
now that I got the new ps distribution.

Linus, is the buffer cache supposed to just keep growing? On my system
(16 meg RAM, 386/33, Adaptec 1542 with HD stuff not compiled) I noticed
that system memory just keeps going down as I access the disk until it hits
zero. It doesn't /seem/ like things are being slowed down, but I can't be
sure yet. Swap doesn't start getting used.

Does the system now just grab everything for buffer cache and then
get rid of older buffers in the cache as memory requests come in? I waited
till I was down to 0 free memory and started X up and it worked okay, so
I think that's what's going on.

If this is the case, that's fine, but it would be nice for free to
somehow return the "actual" amount of free memory.
