   Well some wonderful person mailed me [And I unfortunatly deleted your
message in a mail box purge..] and ftp'ed a new xinit onto here. Now I 
haven't even LOOKED at the source, I just used the binary and it worked fine.
Whoever your are you are a godsend. Anyone who wants it,

  ftp.su.oz.au [I think..? or ftp.ucc.su.oz.au] /tmp/vgaxinit.T.Z

  Works fine. The person who did put that there, mail me or post so you 
get the credit you so rightly deserve :)

   Also, someone mailed me about using the command:

   runx startx

  And that restores the text mode properly.
