Subject: Running X11 on a plain VGA?

I seem to remember hearing about a driver or something that allows
X11 to be run on a normal VGA card, but wasn't interested at that
time. Can I do it, and if I can, what should I do/read/ftp?

(I should really buy a SVGA but no money, no fun.)
