Hello Linuxers, I have a question regarding fdformat. For some reasons, I can not format 5.25 HD diskettes on my drive. 3.5 diskettes are formatted just fine. Any of you is experiencing this problem ? I am using Linux version 0.97pl1 and root file system from the MCC-interim version. I use fdformat /dev/fd1h1200 for 5.25 HD diskettes on my drive, and get a bunch of errors during the verification phase. (A lot of noise from the drive and 'sector not found' messages.) For 3.5 diskettes, there is no problem. And I am able to access (read, write) 5.25 diskettes formatted by MS-LOSS. Do I need to set the parameters before fomatting ? If so, where can I get the setfdparm program and what are the values of necessary parameters? Thanks in advance for any information. Cheers, Nhut. P.S. Millions of thanks to all of you who have brought together a wonderful OS. I know this is repetition, but just want to express my gratitude. :-) -- +=============================================================================+ | Nhut Nguyen | Internet: nnhut@bnr.ca | | BNR Ltd., Ottawa, Canada | "Oogawa oto wo tatezu..." | +=============================================================================+
