What does the partition table look like for your "D:" drive? Has it been
partitioned? /dev/hdb is the entire "D:" disk drive. Not what you want
to use. Your 4 primary partitions are /dev/hdb1, /dev/hdb2, /dev/hdb3, and
/dev/hdb4. Partitions 5 and up are "logical drives" in a DOS extended partition.
Don't use them unless you have a DOS extended partition on your "D:" drive.

You should be able to view your partition table using "pfdisk" from your
floppy root file system.
