No, the compiler is GCC 2.2.2, from banjo.concert.net. It works fine for 
(almost) everything else; even the patch to 0.97 worked with no hitches (not
even a warning, as I recall) for me (for once :-). It just keeps crapping out
on the Elm and mail; as I said, no problems with the UUCP stuff.
(I tried commenting out the strcspn and strspn defs in /usr/include/string.h, 
and that got me past the opt_utils.c bit, but came up with another error
(multiple definitions of strcspn and strspn) later in the make.
