What if??? Lets just say... your running 0.95a with old gcc and stuff and you get the new gcc and code for the new kernel(96bpl2). Now you install the new compiler which will only produce binaries for the new kernel. You unpack the kernel and build away!!!! But in the making you see, gcc ... tools/build.c -o tools/build ... then tools/buils boot/bootsect ... > Image BUT this doesn't work, because the build binary won't run under the old kernel. Now is this just a flaw in my logic or should this be taken into consideration when releasing a new gcc. This wouldn't be a prob if I could find an image for 0.96bpl2 but there are none to be found. What should a person do. Re-install gcc2.11c and make that binary and switch back???? Hmmm. ==================================================================== | Douglas Mayfield Pacific Bell | | dbmayf1@sysengr.pacbell.com | | PacBell shares none of my views | ====================================================================
