reading gobs of cross postings, etc. I believe there are others who feel
   the same.

Excuse me, but what's the difference between reading 50-80 postings
in one newsgroup, than reading the same amount in, lets say, four
groups. Any (modern) newsreader handels crosspostings like a charm.

This subject came up often in comp.os.minix that made me very irrate.
Perhaps we could have two groups: comp.os.linux and comp.os.lets.talk.
about.splitting.the.group.linux!! Come on people, what's so hard about
just skipping those articles you aren't interested in? Keep it simple
   please.

The thing is that if I'm not interested in something, for example all kind
of X-matters, then I don't have to go through all these postings and when
reading news per modem this can save some time and money. That's why!

I vote for that we start the process of creating new groups immediately
by issuing a RFD, that's a Request For Discussion.
