Hello,
just a hint to the developers of Linux:
Yesterday I've installed Linux (SLS 0.98p5 distribution) on my 486DX50
(16MB Ram, 213MB Maxtor ATbus-Drive, Speedstar 24). I've installed it
on a 110 MB EXTFS partition combined with LILO6 without any problem, but
after working with it for a while I noticed that many programs
(recompiled with GCC) crashed with a message like 'Illegal Intruction ...
core dumped', and this seemed to me not to be a problem of my C-Sources
(On a prior installation, using standard minix FS, no problems occurred).
So I reinstalled Linux, this time on a standard minix FS --- and, for
my own surprise, the above-mentioned problem hasn't appeared so far.

So, where's the bug (or, if it's not a bug, where's my mistake)?
