Where is the problem in rebuilding the kernel? Just edit the Makefile in
/usr/src/linux and change the entry to a German keyboard. Then just
put in your boot disk and type 'make disk'. After the compilation the new
kernel will automatically be copied on your boot disk (or another formatted
disk). Then simply copy the resulted file Image to the root dir.
