Linux, Desqview/X, and DPMI

Now this is just an idea which has struck me but I dont know
if its feasible. 

I beleive that Desqview/X is DPMI compliant and it is also able to
run Windows applications by translating API calls to X messages.
Now if it were possible to write a DPMI server in Linux we should
be able to run Windows applications under Linux.
So apart from the difficulty of writing a DPMI server (which is
hard from what I've gathered) where does my reasoning break
apart?
