I don't know if this will help Rudi much, but I see a problem here.

The Major number for tty's is 4.  So far, so good.  The minor numbers for
serial lines are 64 through 127, with 64 being equivalent to what MS-DOS
calls "COM1:" and each additional line being the succ. minor number.

Last I heard though, it had been decided to start the serial line *names*
with "ttys0" (rather than "ttys1").  So the mknod *should* have been either
"mknod /dev/ttys2 c 4 66" or "mknod /dev/ttys1 c 4 65".
