I had two problems with the SLS TeX distribution:
(1) there are no bibliography style files (.bst) for bibtex
    Solution: take them from any machine that has TeX,
    they belong into /usr/TeX/lib/tex/inputs
(2) both dvips and xdvi start MetaFont and create fonts for half an
    hour. Eventually they fail anyway.
    Solution: ??

Other than that LaTeX works great,
