Several netters have asked me how I fixed the tcpip bug that causes it to be dumb about protocols (SLS release). I followed someone's instructions in the mail-archives and can't remember the source but you basically can use emacs to replace j^Bj^Aj^B with j^Fj^Aj^B in config. There is only one place where this change takes effect. Make sure your rc.net file is set up o.k. (some installations put tcpip stuff in /usr/etc/inet, some in /etc), and that the appropriate files have execute permission set. Checking the source, you'll find that the socket() call is not compatible with the implementation of socket() in the kernel. Hope this helps. P.S. I finally got X up and running (Yea!). Trouble is, xdm puts up a login window and mu keyboard hangs (or at least the system beeps at me when I try to fill the window in). Anyone know what I may have done wrong?
