I tried the linux adaption of gwm (a windows manager that promises Motif-like style) with the X11 coming with SLS.98. It cried: cant find /lib/libX11.1.1 I tried links to the jump/no-jump libX11's , but the result were segmentation faults. (xlock and xload(?) coming with SLS.98 show the same behaviour). Where can I get those libraries???? (Please, dont say: take the sources and recompile! I am a beginner and at least gwm seems to be a very hard piece of work. ) My second point: Running xdvi unter X11 (phantastic!!!) I get the error "Too many open files" when I need more than 25 or so TeX fonts. CAn I change this? I am afraid I have to recompile the kernel. Where is the place to change the max. number of open files? Many thanks for your time. Meik Hellmund Institut fuer Theoretische Physik Universitaet Leipzig hellmund@hep.physik.uni-leipzig.dbp.de
