Thanks for all your suggestions, folks, but I *still* haven't got it working
for 0.98.1. Permissions on /dev/tty are fine, major/minor numbers for
/dev/ttys* are fine, but it still doesn't work.

I got C-Kermit 5A(175) from tsx-11:/pub/linux/binaries/usr.bin/kermit5A.tar.Z,
but I couldn't find version 5A(184). Again, this version works fine with
0.97.1 but not with 0.98.1. I am even using the same root disk for both of
them - the only difference is the different boot image. I also get
*another* problem with 5A on 0.98.1 which is that it doesn't echo
the commands properly. (Again this the problem doesn't occur for 0.97.1).

I also downloaded minicomm (version 1.3.2, I think), but it doesn't work
for either version of linux. I get a message "Killed by signal 14",
which is SIGALRM I think, and then it hangs up the modem (GRRRRR!!!!)
and exits.

Has anyone got a comms program of any sort that will work for 0.98.1?
(Help!)

This .signature virus is a self-referential statement that is true - but
you will only be able to consistently believe it if you copy it to your own
.signature file!
