There is a simple patch (removing one test in an if-statement in
memory.c), but it's not a real solution to the problem, so I won't even
post it here (I did post it to the NET channel as I wanted some response
to some other problems with tcp/ip).  0.98.3 will correct all of these
that I have so far gotten reports on (and the pre-version that is
available to limited testers (ie the mailing-lists) corrects 99% of
them).  0.98.3 will be out this weekend, so I'd suggest you wait two
days for it.
