Here is the latest list of Public acces BBS's, and FTP Sites that
carry Linux files. This list was last modified 16 Oct 92.

WHAT'S NEW:
I've added field's to indicate weather or not the BBS charge's a
subscription fee to access the files. If you will be able to download
file's on your first call, and if the BBS allow's file requests.
Since this is new data I would appreciate feedback and the necessary
info to update the list.

PLEASE UPLOAD FILES TO BBS'S:
In posting this list I would like to point out that a large number
enthusiests don't have FTP access. In fact it is possible that by now
most of the Linux fan's don't. So I would like to suggest that those
of us that do, find at least one BBS to post the Linux file's to. I,
for one post every file that I get to at least one of the local BBS's,
and from there they the file's tend to find there way to other local
BBS's. I've seen post's about the future of Linux etc., well here is a
way to help guarentee it. I think it's safe to assume that most people
with FTP access also have a modem. So how about doing other Linux fan's
a favor and finding a BBS to upload the Linux files to.

FORMAT:
State YYY BBS Name Phone Number Modem Speed

Are you new to Linux or do you want to get a good Idea of what a
Linux system look's like? Then try this system it's running the
latest version. Here is what the SysOp has to say about it:

/*
     System name: hip-hop
     Software: Linux v0.97pl2 + TCP/IP 0.8.0
Hardware: 486/33, 16M RAM, 300+ MB HD space, US Robotics Dual
Standard (V.32bis and HST, 14.4Kbps). DTE rate is
                  38.4Kbps.
Misc info: I'm carrying almost all sources and around half of the
binaries (many of those on the FTP sites are obsolete). I am
personally doing ports of some TCP/IP stuff and X clients, all of
which are in publicly readable directories. The linux stuff is up
to date within a couple of days, and it's open for business (no
fees though) 24 hrs. I'll be giving out individual accounts as
requested and as disk space holds out.
X/Y/Zmodem and Kermit are installed and working. Most of the
popular archivers are also installed and available (zoo, lha,
     zip, compress, etc.).
Focus: TCP/IP, SLIP, networking, X games.

It is my understanding that if you have access to a BBS on
FidoNet that if you can talk the SysOp into it he can get the
Linux Files via Fidonet Linux SDN. Contact Greg Naber at S'Qually

Note:
If you have a mailer, you can Freq LINUX from 1:343/34 or

sites. Also F'Req LINUX.FRQ from 1:377/42, aka 813-689-1150.
