Unfortunately it _almost_ works, see:
  "git log --follow <filename> doesn't follow across 'subtree strategy' merge"

("git log --follow gitweb/gitweb.perl follows rename from gitweb/gitweb.cgi,
but not rename (moving) from gitweb.cgi in a merge commit).
