specifications in programming/software are not like specifications in engineering.

Programming/Software contains a lot of art and especially a lot of NEW stuff that hopefully works......certainly very little of the tried and true stuff you find in engineering. And very little testing like in engineering, IF any, BEFORE actually going live.

Programming/Software != engineering

Software doesn't even come close to the rigors of engineering by any means.
