..and I can't wait to post articles. This is no false alarm. I'm actually somewhat stable and I now have plenty of time to keep track of BSD dev. If that's what the crowd here is still interested in?

So much has happened in the last couple of years.. nice to be back. Looking forward to many interesting conversations and articles...

Due to cantankerous work conditions and obnoxious phb's I haven't been here in a while. Certainly missed the place! There have been many, *many* things that have happened in BSD development over several months that I simply haven't had time to cover - or even get the opportunity to read myself. I'd be interested to hear what people around here are interested in wrt to BSD articles, so anyone who's

I've got to figure out how to build my own 22u rackmount by the weekend, although I've never built one before. I recall a good tutorial on DIY racks somewhere on the interweb, but I believe that site's down now and I can't seem to find any mirrors of the original content. Did find this though:

http://www.homerecording.com/make_rack.html

This looks to be about the right dimensions, but I'll have to compare with industry specs. I've got to fit roughly 8us of server in there for starters (4u compaq 5500, 3 1u systems + 1u KVM). Looks like I'll be raiding the local hardware store tomorrow.

Speaking of compaq 5500s - it would be nice if an insight-manager work-alike could be ported over to BSD. If nothing but for the ability to quiet those silly fans down. It's hard to get decent use out of a server you can only run a couple hours at a time - the noise is enough to make talking on the phone difficult, not to mention the ugly looks as neither the cats or the wife appreciate the noise pollution.

What the hell am I doing up...?

Sampling records on my akai mpc and drooling over audio gear at zzounds.com. If only there were just a couple more hours in the day...

...I'd probably still not sleep much.
