The short quotes idea is brilliant!
I love how it gives us a taste of the personalities involved. (For those of us who can't afford the time to keep up on 120,000 emails per year.)
These QUOTES are VERY nice.
I keep returning to kerneltrap just to read them!
But a suggestion: they would be much more interesting if they cited the context!
Is it too hard to implement?
Example: "It's all just too damn subtle and clever. Something like this should not need to be that subtle."
— Linus Torvalds, in an October 19th, 2007 message on the Linux Kernel mailing list.
With context: "It's all just too damn subtle and clever. Something like this should not need to be that subtle."

I'm glad you're enjoying the quotes! Digging them up has proven to be one of the highlights of my day... :)
As for context, that's left as an exercise for the reader. As a link is provided directly to the message from which the quote was taken, it's generally a simple enough task...
Hmmm, I like better when the context is left apart. Then, you can reuse it at the end of your mails matching the context you need (if you get one of these nice and easy Thunderbird plugin to manage your quotes). :)
Love the quotes

"Quote" tag
should the quotes be tagged as such? It'd make it much easier to get a listing of all of the quotes
