How is this news? I appreciate seeing quotes and stories from something not Linux-related, but come on ... Windows sucks? Yeah, I think we're all aware of that ;-)

*shrug*

March 5, 2008 - 9:32pm

Why is windows folder creation surprise one of the longest running still active forum topics? The world may never know.

Lol. Working on *bsd is much more painfull. How about the license? Did they forget that their are indirectly supporting windows and macosx (freebsd especially)? Only Linux is clean and good.

Do you think that *bsd are better on desktop than windows?

At least they're no worse than GNU/Linux, and personally I think that's better than any Windows by far.

Depending on what you mean by "desktop" (I'm assuming the common lots-of-windows-and-icons desktop), both GNU/Linux and BSD offer pretty much the same features.

I just prefer BSD. You may use whatever suits your fancy.

Linux is much better than windows (on desktop too of course). But *bsd is worse than Linux. I used freebsd and IMHO it was slow. Linux is faster on a desktop and it's faster on a server. Kernel 2.6.21 is faster than freebsd 7 in MySQL and it's faster in DNS tests (2.6.18 too, sic!)

http://new.isc.org/proj/dnsperf/OStest.html

2.6.24 is still better than 2.6.21. It's funny that when someone say about *bsd its fanboys allways compare it to Linux. Some kind of envy? Just stop listen to bsd propaganda (especially freebsd devs, fanboys etc.).

Linux is faster on a desktop and it's faster on a server.

And sometimes Windows is faster than GNU/Linux. Does that mean you think Windows is better than GNU/Linux? Speed is not the only measure of quality. There are other, often more important, things to consider when you measure the quality of an operating system. It is also a highly subjective matter.

Just stop listen to bsd propaganda...

Just stop listen to Linux propaganda...

Or perhaps it's best to not listen to any propaganda.

Cheers.

In what important things bsd is faster/better than Linux :D. Windows can be faster only in games written for (guess for)... windows! Right, Speed isn't the only measure of quality. I think that the most important is the speed of a system, it's stability and security. Speed in fixing bugs is also very important. Freebsd has about six hundreds of unfixed bugs... I didn't hear about Linux propaganda. Linux devs are very objective. I was guided by tests, my experience and so on.

Faster, better, awesome!

Security, code quality, stability, documentation, and sane tools. Speed? It's fast enough. I use OpenBSD on my desktop. Before that I used Debian.

Windows can be faster only in games written for (guess for)... windows!

Actually, I once tried "Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" on GNU/Linux, and it was slightly faster than on Windows. And after you quit the game, the system wasn't trashing for 2 minutes before becoming operational again.

Speed in fixing bugs is also very important.

Having less bugs is even better...

Linux devs are very objective.

"Gnome seems to be developed by interface nazis" -- Linus Torvalds. Yes, very objective. I for one prefer GNOME over the bells-and-whistles-want-to-look-like-windows KDE thing.

Only myths... Lol. You must be kidding :D. OpenBSD is like a calculator comparing to other systems :D It's very slow... Linux is better in security, has better code quality, it's more stable and it's a LOT faster (but *bsd fanboys says someting else, because envy).
Calculator doesn't have any bugs so it's better than OS? Only Linux kernel is more powerfull than OpenBSD so stop making a fool of oneself. Saying "Linux devs are very objective" I meant tests and opinions about systems.

And what's this, then? Let me tell you; it's a subjective opinion (that's utterly false). By your own statements, you should be angry at yourself.
